If you had asked me Friday what I was doing this weekend, I would have said sleeping. Apparently I think sleeping is for suckers because I definitely got up bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed Saturday morning to drive to LA to make it to my dear friend Frankie’s big birthday bash.
I had decided to not go for a few reason, exhaustion being foremost in my mind. But after a quieter night hanging out with Mel and drinking a margarita or two.. I felt ready to get to LA. Then, I was quickly reminded that I didn’t mind driving that much.. cause it’s beautiful and I love singing in my car.
There was definitely alone, quiet time.. which is what I wanted this weekend to have.
So, I got to LA and got to meet up with Ashley and Nico. Before Nico even arrived, Ashley and I were laughing hysterically like we’ve been besties forever. It was so great. And now they can attest to the fact that the happy person I try to be here, is real. They might have made fun of me for laughing too much, at things that weren’t all that funny. Whatever.
|This was taken after our original BFF picture looked too serious. Ashley busted out the jazz hands. I giggled. Friends forever.|
The party that night was a hat party, I made me hat out of newspaper and hugged Jimmie and Anthony so much I am sure they thought they had grown a Siamese twin.
Definitely hung out with Heather Morris from Glee, which was a blast. I told her she was really throwing off my groove, because usually I’m the only girl dancing in our dance parties.. and now there’s another girl who just happens to be a professional dancer? Well, crap.
Oh, and she’s also a cat person. So, you know, we’re going to have play dates and such. No big deal.
I wasn’t drinking at one point Saturday night and Jimmie decided to tell everyone I wasn’t drinking because I was pregnant. People started congratulating me. I might have had some choice swear words for my GSBGG (Grad School BFF)… the word rhymes with Trucker or Pucker… His response “Sorry, I don’t come to hetero bars often. Is that not an appropriate joke?” I love him more than life.
The best part of the night, really, was being there with Frankie. I am such a big fan of birthdays, and I wanted him to know he’s special, loved, and amazing. Totally worth the 12 hours I spent in the car this weekend.
